The Lachlan Fold Belt is New South Wales’ most prospective area for new gold discoveries. Prospects have been greatly enhanced by ongoing company exploration of the area and the commissioning of successful mining operations and State Government initiatives.

CENTRAL WEST

The Central West, with its major investments at Cadia, Girilambone, Lake Cowal the Cobar district and Northparkes, has the mining infrastructure and skills base to make further investment worthwhile. The region already has the skills base, infrastructure and service industries to support future mining operations. Although the main identified impediment to the expansion of mining is the secure supply of water, the situation should improve as the Iemma Government’s water reforms take effect.
